BODEGAS BHILAR - The winemaker of Bhilar tinto see all BODEGAS BHILAR wines.
Old vines, barren soils and a cool climate, that's the title of David Sampedro Gil's project in El Villar, a Basque mountain village in which viniculture has dominated the landscape for centuries. Since 1999, still working as a consultant for various large bodegas in the Rioja, David has been dealing with Rudolf Steiner's ideas for biodynamic agriculture. From 2007 he took care of the family's 35 to 100 year old vineyards and since 2012 the first own (garage) wines have been made. In 2014 the tractor was replaced by a horse and in 2016 the “minimally invasive” winery was built by David and his wife Melanie. Here the family lives true to the "chateau principle" with their children and dogs sustainably and consistently down to the last detail the biodynamic guidelines, embedded in the landscape. . No additives except sulfur. In addition to his involvement in the Rioja, David also cultivates vineyards in the Navarre, Utiel-Requena, Sierra de Francia and Rias Baixas.
